Part-Time Teaching Position

Contents

Description

We are looking for highly motivated teachers with experience teaching English to kids, preferably in eikaiwa (conversation school). Only candidates who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, a professional attitude, excellent time-management skills, and a love for working with kids will be considered for the position.

Responsibilities mainly include teaching kids (and occasionally adults) in small classes ranging from private lessons (one-on-one) to small groups (up to 9 students). All materials for lessons such as flashcards and worksheets are already prepared for the students in the case of kids classes, so there is very little time required for preparation.

In addition, every fourth lesson is a “special lesson” where students get to practice using English as they make crafts or do activities (coloring Easter eggs, making slime, having an in-class Halloween party, etc.)

Contract period: (Teachers who can commit to a one year contract will be given preference.)

April 2020 – March 2021 (Starting earlier than April is possible)

Location:
Takamatsu (Shinkita-machi School and Kameicho School)

Remuneration:
The payment is per class and dependent on the type and length of class. In general, the payment is between 2500 – 3500 yen per 45/50-minute class. Any work performed outside of lessons is 1000 yen/hour (teacher meetings, training, events, etc.). Transportation allowance is also available.

*A contract completion bonus is paid upon successful completion of the contract.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a friendly, outgoing, and creative person who loves working with kids. Japanese proficiency at a conversation level is desirable, but all lessons are carried out in English, so it’s not mandatory. Participation in monthly meetings and teacher training meetings (3 times per year) is also mandatory.

Important points:
1. The applicant must be a native English speaker. (English must be his/her first language.)
2. The applicant must currently reside in Japan and hold a valid working visa.
